January 12th National Day of Resistance

Jan 13, 2021

On Tuesday, January 12th, MCEA was proud to join several other major education unions and associations, representing more than 48,000 public school educators working in the greater metro Washington, DC region to mobilize together for a National Day of Resistance.

The virtual event called for Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to coordinate across school district boundaries for a single, cohesive plan on reopening schools in the region for remote and in-person instruction. It is crucial that all schools in the DMV area agree on a unified strategy that prioritizes the safety of our students and teachers and helps to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community.
