MCEA PASSES RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SCHOOL SAFETY ACTIONS

The Representative Assembly (RA) of the Montgomery County Education Association last week adopted an important new resolution in support of the #enough movement for school safety and noting the public actions planned across the country for March 14th and March 24th. MCEA members have been inspired by students leading the way to call on policy makers and school officials to make their schools safer.

The resolution notes that “As teachers, one of our most important responsibilities is the safety of our students. As union members, one of our most important responsibilities is advocating for a safe educational environment. As parents, one of our most important responsibilities is the safety of our children. As U.S. citizens, one of our most important responsibilities is advocating for a safe society by electing representatives who share our views.”

On March 14th educators will “sticker up” and show collective support on social media.  MCEA members will also attend the MCPS meeting scheduled for Frost Middle School at 6:30 pm to stress the importance of safe schools to MCPS and other county officials.
